Tamarack Base Metal Project
An area play within the Ring of Fire
The Tamarack property was Mantis’ project of merit and is optioned from Probe Mines Ltd.
The property consists of 24-claims totaling 3,328 hectares and is located in the James Bay Lowlands...
...300-kilometers north of the community of Nakina which is located 60-kilometers north of Geraldton. The claims are grouped into two blocks, the west claim block consists of 16-claims and the east claim block consists of 8-claims.
Geologically the property is situated at the eastern margin of the Sachigo Volcanic Belt, an area that is currently the scene of intense exploration and has been coined the “Ring of Fire”.
Mantis’ southwest portion of the west block lies near the margin of the arcuate magnetic linear that hosts Noront’s high grade nickel and PGE Eagle One discovery at the Double Eagle project.
To the northeast of this area within 1800-meters is the site of Probe’s original discovery hole-M6 at Tamarack, it returned an assay of 3.1% copper over 7.8-meters. The hole intersected a massive sulphide horizon in volcanic rocks. Volcanic massive sulphide deposits are important
sources for copper, zinc, lead and silver and account for 27%, 49%, 20% and 40% respectively of Canada’s production of these metals.
The east block hosts three distinct volcanic horizons containing sulphide mineralization. Up to 1% combined copper-zinc-lead has been intersected. A drill indicated strike length to these horizons of 2.3 kilometers has been determined with potential to extend them to 6-kilometers.
The results of a high definition VTEM survey are currently being processed and plans are to follow-up with a drill program pending the results of this survey.
Mantis’ land position within the “Ring of Fire” makes the Tamarack project a high profile property.
