An Emerging Gold Play
The King Dodds project is an ambitious undertaking by Mantis and has the potential of evolving to become a significant area play.
Mantis currently controls 18,792-hectares of staked crown land within 66-claims. The property is located 70-kilometers west of the community of Nakina, which in turn is located 60-kilometers north of Geraldton.
Geologically the property is situated in the Onaman-Tashota belt, historically known as the Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt which generated over 4-million ounces of gold from 19-producing mines. Subsequent to the discovery of visible gold at the King Dodds claim in the early 1900’s, a major staking rush ensued and the area became known as the Tashota Gold camp.
The high grade gold discovery at King Dodds led to other gold finds of which 5 are currently held by Mantis.
800-meters to the west of the King Dodds occurence a showing of two, one to six foot wide quartz veins yielded from 14-samples an average of 0.97 ounces per ton gold. Immediately south of the King Dodds on the Peters discovery a 20-foot wide quartz vein panned gold. At the
Richardson-Louden-Ogilvie showing, located 11.2 kilometers southeast of the King Dodds occurence, a 200- foot length of quartz vein revealed 7-sites of coarse visible gold.
Future plans for this property include a detailed geological mapping, sampling and trenching program scheduled for the summer of 2008.
The very much under explored Tashota area has all the hallmarks, including favorable geology, numerous gold showings and excellent infrastructure of becoming the next major area play on the Ontario gold scene.
